Biography

Department: Medicine                                                  Immunology Focus area: Adaptive Immunity                  Descriptive Title of Research: How the Balance between CD4 and CD8 T Cells is Maintained and Altered by Infections and Aging Research Description:    The immune system’s functions are altered by whether or not it is in homeostasis, and whether or not it can return to a balance in which CD4 cells “govern” CD8. As the immune system has more antigenic experience and ages, returning to a state of balance becomes increasingly difficult. We use human clinical records and mouse models to study the causes and consequences and T cell imbalance.
